About Us

The first restaurant owner was considered A. Boulanger, a soup supplier who opened in Paris in 1765. The sign above his door advertises a restoration or restaurant, referring to the soup and broth inside. The name of the institution is taken from the logo, and the “restaurant” now expresses public eating places in English, French, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Romanian and many other languages, with some variations. For example, in Spanish and Portuguese, the word becomes a restaurant; in Italian it is ristorante; Swedish, restaurant; Russian, restoran; in Polish, restauracia.
